Whether you have an online business or a bricks and mortar business, starting and growing your business requires time and dedication. Think of the reasons why you went in business in the first place. More often than not you started the business because it was a means, a vehicle, to give you the lifestyle that you want and if you are smart enough to automate your business, it will give you time freedom. Time to spend with your family, time to travel and time to enjoy the money you made. I have seen people start a business simply because they were bored of their existing job or wanted to do something ‘different’- they are simply buying themselves another job.

Motivation and focus is the key. The 7 ways to growing your business is not based on random marketing tips, it is a small business blueprint to automating and expanding your business. The system I am about to explain is very simple yet effective. The key lies in systemizing each area of your business so that it runs without you.

There are 7 areas of your businesses that you should have systemize (this applies to both online and offline):

1. Defining Your Business:

Do you have a quality product or service and does it solve a problem? Determine your Unique Selling Point (USP) by asking yourself what makes your business, product or service different and what is it that you do that other people do not do?

This then becomes your business motto or elevator speech. For example “We help small to medium business owners get more customers online and offline using direct response and internet marketing strategies”

2. Set Your Goals and Objectives:

What are your financial goals for the business? People often ignore goal setting however be specific about your goals and state the time frame for achieving this goal. What are your business objectives: consider this as your exit strategy, do you want to expand, franchise, sell or float the business? Know where you want your business to be in the future.

3. Select and Target:

Who are your prospective buyers or another words, what’s your target market? Are they of a certain demographic, location, culture, online or offline?

4. Setup Monitoring and Measuring:

Implement measuring and measuring systems. If your business is online you should have access install Google Analytics to see the number of visitors you get to your site and set up different tracking ids. If you’re business is offline, have reports in place to track and measure your advertising campaigns. Consider this area as your key performance indicators determine what is working and what is NOT working for your business.

5. Generate Interest and Leads:

Creating an irresistible offer: One that gets people opting-in to your list (if you’re online) or and getting people to try you out in you have a physical store. Sometimes the best way to get someone to know you is to give it away for free. Offline methods: Ads, fax, letters, emails, outbound calls, walk-ins, cold calling, direct mail, workshops etc Online: Social media (Twitter, Face book, You tube), PPC advertising, SEO, Affiliate Programs etc

6. Make the Sale and Up-sell:

Training: Once you get clients in your door, have you trained your staff well enough so that they know what to say and what to do to create a great first impression? Training videos: Film the training with you carrying out your staff’s role and have them model it Ask your prospects to buy once you have serviced them and explained the features and benefits At the point of sale, up-sell on complimentary products/services that would add value to your client’s initial purchase

7. After the Sale and Repeat Sales:

Follow up now that they are clients Build a relationship and keep in contact with them consistently by newsletters, emails. Send them gift baskets, thank you notes and birthday cards Encourage referrals and reward your clients with VIP card (with discount offers) for their ongoing loyalty

By step 7, you should have a repeat customer who values your business and is happy enough to refer their friends and family. That is the system that you want to guide your clients through and your client’s referrals will go through the same system that your client experienced. By having business systems in place for both online and offline businesses, you business will grow in leaps and bounds.

In the previous article in this series, we discussed setting up a website for your local business and how it can work for you 24/7 bringing in customers and sales. How much would this constant flow of additional customers help your bottom line?

The Internet is the most powerful marketing medium ever invented. It allows small Business owners to compete with multi-national corporations and take their share of the consumers dollar without spending a fortune on marketing.

You Can Become THE Expert In Your Field

And the Internet is still relatively new – the opportunities are endless for those who get on board now.

In a few years, every man and his dog will be out there with a website (most will still fail to make any money, but there will be a LOT more competition) – but at the moment, the field is wide open, allowing you to get the jump on everyone else and get yourself established as THE expert in your field.

You can grab all the customers you can handle now before your competitors wake up, and by consistently giving those customers great service and quality information through your regular newsletter or ezine (see a future article in this series for details on how to do this), you won’t give them a reason to go anywhere else.

So when some existing or new competitor offers your customers a few dollars off a product that you sell trying to lure them away, they will remember the relationship that you have built with them and ignore the attempt to steal their Business from you.

A website and email marketing can turn your customers into raving fans – people who won’t leave you no matter what, and who recommend you to all of their friends – and studies have shown that word of mouth marketing is the most powerful way to find new customers.

Wouldn’t that be nice?

OK, lets outline the step by step plan you need to make this happen. A high traffic, profitable website is within your reach…

But first, from the beginning, what is the way many consider as the best way of building a presence for your business on the web…a Theme Based Content Site.

So what is a Theme Based Content Site?

A Theme Based Content Site is a website that offers visitors information that is tightly focused around a topic or area of interest that appeals to a certain group of people.

For example, sport is a niche, but it is too general to be used as the basis of a website on it’s own. Lacrosse, water polo or skiing would be great examples of niches that have many devoted players who surf the Internet looking for information and products related to their sport.

These are niches that could have significant possibilities for building a profitable website.

There are thousands of niches all around us – your Theme Based Content Website needs to focus on one of these that is related to your Business and provide interesting, relevant content to the people who are looking for it.

When your web pages are submitted to the search engines, the engines crawl through them looking for keywords and an overall theme.

The pages are then listed in the indexes of the search engines, and when someone searches for say ‘lacrosse equipment’, your page by the same name will be returned in the results that the searcher sees.

The key is getting your pages to the top of the search engines. Some topics have millions of search results returned – you have to be in the top 20 to have any chance of being seen by anyone.

That is your goal, so you have to be sure that you choose a niche that doesn’t have an overwhelming amount of competition and also offers you the potential of making a good profit – in other words, it has to contain people who have money to buy the products or services you are selling.

It is no use focusing on a niche that has many people with no money or people who don’t use computers or technology – they will not be in a position to find out about your website…

So, lets start at the beginning and go through the process of creating a Theme Based Content Website and you will understand what is involved.

To discover the step by step process of building a highly profitable website for your local business, go to part 3 of this series.

A good email marketing campaign may help you:

Augment Your Sales Conversion

Generate replicate Sales

Up-sell and Cross-sell commodities and Services

Put on Valuable Feedback from your Visitors

Drive Web Users to Make Offline purchases

1. Augment Your Sales Conversion

Regardless of how good your commodity or service is, really most visitors to your site won’t convert into sales on their first visit.

Actually, research indicates that it takes the average shopper up to nine visits prior to they’ll make a buying decision. In other words, every effectual sales process needs an element of repetition.

Think about the times when you’ve picked up a new commodity at the supermarket after seeing it advertised on TV a dozen times. Or a time where you’ve visited a novel local restaurant after driving past it each day on your way to work.

That’s repetition in action, but dissimilar a ‘bricks-and-mortar’ retail store, there is no ‘drive-by’ traffic on the Internet. In a lot of cases when someone clicks on the little ‘exit’ button in the top right hand corner of the screen…they’re gone eternally.

On top of that, there are many ways someone can get distracted while visiting your website. For instance, let’s say you run a website selling baby prams.

A mother is surfing through your site and finds a commodity she likes – but prior to she gets a chance to add the item to her shopping basket….,a few distractions occur:

The calling bell rings

She closes the web browser by mistake

She receives an important email

In spite of of the reason – if she leaves the site there’s a 90% chance you’ve lost the sale…except you’ve managed to capture her email address.

If you’ve got her email address, you get a second chance. You may email her with:

Your weekly newsletter

Your free report on the topics of your marketing

The bottom line is, capturing an email address gives you a ‘Plan B’ and permits you to follow-up with someone after they’ve left your website.

2. Generate Repeat Sales

Getting novel customers is hard work – it’s also really classy. Actually, it can be up to eight to ten times more expensive to acquire a novel customer than to sell to an existing one. To get new customers, you have to factor in the cost of advertising, educating and selling to them.

Thus, a big chunk of the first sale is simply recouping the costs you’ve outlaid to obtain the customer in the first place.

And while novel sales are great, we can’t emphasize sturdily enough the value of repeat sales. Too frequently, businesses focus only on the initial sale and forget about the lifetime value of a customer.

Keeping in touch with customers on a normal basis via email allows you to generate repeat sales which may be up to four times more profitable than the initial acquire.

A good email marketing campaign will augment the frequency of repeat purchases from your existing customers.

3. Up-sell and Cross-sell Products & Services

“Would you like fries with that?”

McDonalds makes billions of dollars each year from this basic up-sell.

When appropriate, email provides a huge opportunity for you to up-sell and cross-sell your products and services.

For instance, if you run a website that sells tennis gear, someone buying a novel tennis racket may also be interested in tennis balls and other accessories.

By using simple email marketing software, it’s simple to create a series of email messages (known ‘Auto-Responders’) that will automatically follow-up with provides on tennis balls, tennis shoes, tennis clothes and so on.

If you’re selling a service, like dry cleaning, once a customer has made a first purchase you can use email to follow up with related services, like ironing business shirts and stain removal.

This essential technique by itself can easily add an extra 30% to your average order value and is used by almost all major companies online.

4. Gain Valuable Feedback from Your Visitors

Customer feedback is an invaluable tool for any kind of business. This feedback lets you to resolve:

What products and services to give

Who to aim

What the market is willing to disburse

Email in meticulous provides your customers with a distinctive opportunity to give honest feedback. Unlike face-to-face interaction where people may be shy about voicing their true feelings, email lets them to get right to the point.

By using email as a feedback tool you may adapt to what the market wants and enhance your business.

5. Drive Web Users to Make Offline Purchases

Astonishingly, email marketing is often a catalyst for web users to go and make a buy offline. When surveyed, 59% of email users said that they have made a buy offline after getting an email promotion.

Why? At times a user will find something they want online but they require it straight away and can’t afford to wait for delivery. Other times, the product may need to be demonstrated (such as treadmill) and they want to see, touch and feel the item.

If you run a conventional offline business you may use email marketing to drive foot traffic through your door.

Many of us today are looking for ways to make some extra money to make ends meet. Perhaps you have lost your job or have suffered cutbacks like most people have during these economic downturns that we are experiencing. I’ve been in that position until I discovered Internet Marketing is How to Earn Money.

With the internet, you can reach out to a whole new crowd of people not just on a local level but globally. If someone is looking for a particular item half way across the world and you have the solution to their problem, it’s likely that they will purchase from you once you have a good system in place and have the skill necessary to drive the traffic to your site.

Your niche can be simple, something that you know about or have an interest in, set up a one page site to give away a free gift like an e-book or report in exchange for their e-mail address and their name. Once you have these two items then you can build up a report with them and start to sell them items that they need to solve their problems. Internet Marketing is How to Earn Money but the money is in the list. Many marketers will tell you that.

Starting off as an affiliate marketer is one place to start and most Internet Marketers start off by promoting someone else’s product or service for a commission. The real money comes into play when you have your own products or services to sell. You get to keep most of the profits and you don’t have to share them with anyone.

Try to learn as much as you can before starting out with any new venture. Having the correct mindset, desire, determination, and dedication to your project will gain you success in Internet Marketing. You will need to learn new skills, have a computer with a good internet connection, and of course a niche to promote and a way to drive traffic to that niche.

It sounds complicated at first but with a few new basic skills, a good system in place, a procedure that you follow with that system, you’ll soon learn that Internet Marketing is How to Earn Money. It’s a great feeling to know you don’t have any set hours to keep or a boss to report to. You can choose to work today or go play. Most of all have fun with what you do.

Almost every business no matter how big or small needs an online presence. Have you noticed that internet connections are becoming as common as phone lines? Web based business services are constantly growing and increasingly easy to use that more and more traditional businesses are finally “starting to wake up” to how effective marketing on the internet can be. They also are realizing that online advertising is very cheap, trackable, and extremely profitable.

You have to create a consistent internet marketing strategy that will make the internet work for you. When it comes to internet marketing, a functional website should include a content management system that lets you do routine updating automatically.

Nothing cements your relationships with your customers or motivates them to make new purchases like an informative, frequently updated, well designed, website.

There are tons of effective marketing programs on the internet but you first have to identify your target audience. Mostly all consumers will use “keyword searches” to find what they are looking for and interested in. This is very important to keep in mind when doing your keyword research.

Make sure your business is listed in Google Local, Yahoo Local, the yellow pages and other local search engines. Listing are free, although you can pay for more prominent ads. Here are some free internet marketing tips to help you successfully market on the internet.

The biggest difference between traditional marketing versus internet marketing is, you not only have access to a massive audience you can reach in a relatively short period of time, but you will keep your overhead expenses reasonably low. As a result of these two internet marketing formulas working simultaneously, it will automatically create an endless online cash flow.

In my opinion, learning internet marketing is a lot like learning how to swim. For one, you can read all of the books and information available, but, sooner or later, you’re going to have to ‘jump in the pool!’

For many of us that are learning internet marketing, our fear of the internet can, sometimes, be irrational (like our fear of water). But, these ‘irrational fears’ are ‘real’ to us (most significantly, they are barriers to our growth and confidence). The fears represent our ‘realities’, that is, until we are able to conquer our fears. We can usually conquer our fears by taking ‘baby steps’ of incremental growth.

Sometimes, I hear stories about how some people taught others to swim by ‘just throwing them in the pool – and they had to swim, or else!’ Oddly enough, many people think that this is a good method to conquer one’s fears. But the reality is very similar to the reality of learning successful internet marketing; it can’t be learned ‘overnight!’

Oh, sure, you can find plenty of people that promise that they have the “secrets” and that they can ‘help’ us to be ’swimming with the big boys overnight!’ I’ve found that one of the advantages that such people have is that so many of us don’t know ‘anything’ about internet marketing. What we’ve heard we don’t ‘really’ understand! So, when we hear of all the “secrets” and “SEO tricks” and “other promises of esoteric tips,” we ‘jump in.’

And, the experience continues something like this: We’re in the pool and we aren’t drowning or ‘close to death’ as we had always imagined we would be. Of course, we then stay in ‘just-below-waste-deep’ (at the deepest level for us) water, cling tight to the side, and stay within screaming distance of the lifeguard. Our ‘fear-conquering’ coach (re: swimming instructor/internet marketing ‘expert’) proudly ‘convinces’ us that we are now “swimming with the big boys!” We are told that we are now ready to “do what the big boys do!”

This internet marketing urban legend is also similar to the myth of swimming. It goes like this: There are different and progressively more advanced levels of swimming. The actual definition of ’swimming’ includes the ‘act of staying buoyant (staying afloat), etc.’ Competent and capable of ’staying buoyant’ (staying afloat) in any water immersion situation, etc. etc. That, roughly, is the definition of having the ability to ’swim’ and ’swim well.’

“Pool-Safe,” on the other hand, is what the ‘fear-conquering’ coaches (re: above), unfortunately confuse with “swimming with the big boys.” Pool-Safe means that if you fell into a pool with your clothes on, you know enough about ‘how-to-swim’ to safely get to the side, and eventually, out of the pool without drowning.

“Pool-Safe” and “Swimming” are not the same. Doing ‘esoteric SEO tricks’ that you don’t understand and being confident in marketing are not the same. Knowing the difference will keep you afloat – if that’s what you choose to do.

Successful Internet Marketing, like authentic swimming, can easily be learned. It isn’t something that can be learned overnight, or learned because of secrets or due to the use of short-cut-tricks. No, you must get in the water and incrementally conquer your fears. And, like all of our fears, it is the incremental growth of our knowledge of what we don’t have enough accurate information about that diminishes our fears and makes us better at what we do.

Once we have confidently developed beyond our barrier of ‘fear’ of learning something new, where we go from there is dependent on what skill/knowledge-level we choose to spend our time developing. We can just do it recreationally. We can do it ’semi-competitively.’ We can take it to the next-level (affiliate marketing, ebook marketing, information marketing, viral marketing, etc. [swimming at the YMCA/YWCA/Gym, joining a local community swim team, etc.]) Oops, I may be getting in too deep.

Also, please keep this in mind: If everything were as it seemed, there would be no need for research. Do your research. And, please don’t confuse research with web surfing. There is a major difference. One increases your real knowledge the other is a major distraction and a waste of your valuable time. Do your research.

How did I learn real internet marketing (and learn to swim)? I took my time to learn what marketing was and what it wasn’t. I then learned how I would get better if I regularly practiced what I learned. I leaned what marketing was and how I could practice it to get better at it. I then learned how to market online – which is simply another way of saying internet marketing. I then learned and practiced next-level knowledge and skill sets – each geometrically building (that’s my ‘hoity-toity,’ scientific way of saying that my confidence exploded) on the earlier skill sets, etc. I learned and practiced marketing methods such as email marketing, article marketing (what this article is a part of), content marketing, forum marketing, etc. With my gradual development and improvement, my confidence and skill sets development has helped prepare me to be very good at ‘viral-marketing’ concepts, strategies and activities. Viral-marketing is the next-level in marketing, for me, at least. I still regularly practice the knowledge and skills that got me to this level. But, I’m clear on what works and what doesn’t.

Well, that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

OK, everybody in the pool! Last one in is a ‘fraidy-cat!’ Don’t be scared!

Planning…Marketing Tools…and Commitment equals Online Success!!

Building a business on line is no different than building anything else you’ve dreamed about. It takes 1) planning, 2) acquiring the proper building materials, 3) acquiring the proper tools, and last but not least the commitment to “give of yourself” with maybe blood, sweat and tears, plus an incredible amount of hard work. We’ve all heard the saying….”Rome was not built in a day!”

The same is true with building a successful business on line or building a business in a brick and mortar store in you’re local home town. You must have a dream of your goals. It is best to write those dreams down somewhere and refer to your goals often. At least once a day, you should work to accomplish your goals, even if it’s just a few minutes a day. The old saying….”the harder you work….the luckier you get”, is definitely true when building a business. Plan to succeed….in your venture, and you will automatically see results quicker than you ever thought imaginable. Remember it takes planning. Just having a plan is not enough in itself….you must aggressively pursue you goal(s) with vigor.

It requires your invest in the materials necessary to accomplish your goals. If you’re not willing to make a commitment to acquire the proper materials you might as well hang up your plans, and send your computer back to the manufacturer. Don’t waste your time or anyone else time if your not willing to make the commitment and sacrifices….that may be necessary to build your business.

Acquiring the proper tools is critical to your success. If you were going to build a house, you wouldn’t start your project with only a hammer! You may need a saw….a ruler….a square….you may have to acquire some nails to get the job done. No single item in itself will get the job done, however, without one of those ingredients you may never see your dreams come true. What ever the tools you need to accomplish your goals, you must be committed early in the process to acquire those items. Maybe some of these tools can be upgraded later, however, you must be totally committed to spend the time and the money to purchase these tools and then learn how to use those tools. If you have the best tools money can buy, and don’t know how to use them, you will never….I repeat NEVER….see the success in your business opportunity you deserve. Only you can make that happen.

Last but definitely not least is the amount of time, blood, sweat, tears, confusion, staying up late and committing to get the job done. If anyone tells you….just sign up and you will become a millionaire within a short time….don’t believe it. Sure we all like to think we’ve found that magic button….the easy button….wealth in a flash or whatever those scammers develop and hype to for you to participate in. If it was that easy….don’t you think there would be room for you in such a program? NOT!! The promoters family….friends….and a limited few would be able to take advantage of such a lucrative offer. Don’t you think the scammers (spammers) would want to hire a hundred or even thousands to work for them and keep all the profit, rather than offer you a piece of the pie….to someone they don’t even know. Don’t fall for this type of “opportunity”….you won’t make a cent. That’s why only less than 5% of all the people on the internet make money!

I hope I haven’t painted a dark picture here….or discouraged you away from your dreams. That’s not my intent! However, there is a way your can start small and work your way to success in your business dreams….without spend a fortune. Some time ago, I stumbled into a program that I thought in the beginning was what we just got through talking about. With my experience as a retired investment broker….I had learned over the years to do a “due diligence research” on anything that I look at that requires money. Man, was I ever surprised. This is what I had been looking for for over 5 years. A marketing program that was easy to understand….affordable to own….and most of all they had professional trainers….that was successful by using this remarkable marketing program. The training was free! How much better could it get? I jumped in with both feet and started to use the methods I was being taught to promote a product that I had bought on a whim at a trade show. Within a matter of hours….I was getting responses….in less than a week I was getting orders. All I was doing was following what I was being taught by the professionals. Now I’m privileged to be one of those successful on line marketers….and I now teach the things I have learned to the new people that join this incredible marketing program. By applying the marketing tools….that I learned in the free training sessions, I have been able to take my business opportunities and my SEM/SEO clients to Top Positions on Google. Isn’t that what marketing is all about?

Take a look at some of my websites and see for yourself what proper marketing techniques, properly applied can make in your marketing dreams. Review the sites at your leisure….stay as long as you like. Then vision in your mind how I can help make your dreams a reality. If you have the desire….we can help you make it happen together. I’ve made the NO HYPE offer to show you what can happen if you’re committed to your plan to become one of the 5% of money makers on the internet. The rest is up to you. If you make the choice to join me and my marketing team….that’s cool, however, if you choose not to get involved….that’s OK to. It your future….make your choices wisely.

In summary: With the BLM Traders Marketing system we can help you plan your future. If you need some personal mentoring to get a plan started….I can help. You can see some of the building materials by reviewing the sites I suggested above. You can check out the marketing tools….before you spend a nickel. The only thing I can’t do for you is to make your commitment for you. The commitment is something you and only you can make.
